About Turkish Thoracic Society

Turkish Thoracic Society, with its more than 5700 members, 17 branches, 25 scientific assemblies and task forces, scientific and professional activities and standard defining work for the profession, constitutes the largest specialist organization in the area of respiratory health in Turkey.

The society has a structure similar to the ERS model. Some of the meetings of the Society have been held together with ERS to facilitate interaction between ERS and TTS members as well as benefiting from educational inputs from distinguished experts of the ERS. Many ERS members have been participating in the meetings of the Society.

The Society has 17 branches for different geographical regions of the country.

Society Main Objectives

1. Education

To make scientific contributions in the field of respiratory medicine and to improve training of health-care professionals.

2. Scientific activities

To encourage and support scientific research in the field of respiratory medicine.

3. Patient care

To optimize and establish standards in patient-care in all areas of respiratory medicine.

4. Public health

To provide and disseminate all relevant information regarding respiratory health.

5. Regional and global cooperation

To build and implement national policies for the improvement of global lung health, and to cooperate with regional and global organizations functioning in the field of respiratory diseases.

With these objectives, Turkish Thoracic Society (TTS) aims to improve the professional, scientific and social relationship between the members, to protect their rights and, to promote the highest ethical standards in all activities.
